So, I did a thing… I had an old OnePlus 3T laying around and decided to wade into the abyss of Kali Linux on a mobile phone. Why? Because there are no bones in ice cream. Why not? I’m on an adventure to learn how to be a cybersecurity Pro and I’m absorbing anything I can.
Just to give you an idea of the challenge, and to show my ignorance, this whole process took me days to complete. I believe it was 4 days. From the time I started messing with the phone to root it until the time I actually booted it into Kali was over 4 days.
I gathered input from many resources to get it done and many I don’t remember. However, I have to give props to @davidbombal for giving me the clue that catapulted me to success. I’ll be forever grateful and if you haven’t learned anything from his YouTube channel you should!
Overall the process was a fantastic learning experience! I was able to finally get the phone rooted, and loaded up with NetHunter. Woot!! Don’t think I didn’t struggle. I did. It was frustrating. And aggravating. Good thing winning is a habit!
Kali Chroot Manager took forever for some reason I’ll never know. Maybe that’s just how it is. I won’t bore you with the details of my ignorance. I do admit there was plenty. But with all the information available (for free) I was able to get it done!
So now what? HellifIknow! I expect to try to break some things in my mini-lab of laptops, tablets, cameras and routers. If you’re feeling spunky and need a challenge, do something you’ve never done before. Y’all stay extraordinary!!
